The information presented gave me two options Go to the Store Xbox support page (sorry, didn't capture it) The store didn't help, so I went to the support page and tried to sign-in ... I eventually ended up on the Xbox page and was able to sign-in using my MS account (so much for the one account for all services idea ) My account After signing in (6 different places with the same MS account), I was able to update the Xbox app.
Now here's the rub - the app doesn't know who I am or it assigns a avatar and id to you.
Despite the fact that the docs say it should work regardless of that particular setting's value, as long as you turn your console off once in a while (which I do), I wasn't seeing downloads come through.
But, after switching my console to turn off after 6 hours of inactivity, uninstalling an update, and turning the console off manually, I am now seeing the update download automatically in the "off" state, as well as in the background after starting the console.
I created a new avatar and gamer pic yesterday and it is not showing up as the new design on the Xbox One or on I say this mainly because privacy settings are popping up at random again.
I tried re-saving it on the Xbox Dashboard and it did not help.
